Game Jam Day 2/7 Retrospective - First Look and Feel


What happened then?

It was time to integrate the 3d assets and play around with the overall atmosphere, look and feel.

By the end of day 2 (48 hours into the jam), we also created a first build of just running around, getting a feel for the game like shown in the video. Key questions for us of course were to answer, if we are moving in the right direction and if it has potential for fun and an appealing game.

Added some VFX here and there, updated the scan visuals and had something to mess around with. Some animations were missing, the scan was later on reworked again - just didn't feel "right". However, there are already some elements in the test build, which we kept for the end: Background and bottom design of the level (1), jumping sparks and overall atmospheric direction.

For sound/music, we experimented a bit around and had robotic voice lines prepared. While the quality was totally on the level of our expectations, it was not apparent at this time, where they would fit best.

Still had no sounds and music integrated, but that was just one step away... and was a good goal to have for the next day...
