Game Jam Day 1/7 Retrospective - Initial Steps and Ideas


Our goal was very simple to formulate: We wanted to get a good quality game done for the 7-day game jam.

We started very humble: Get out initial ideas and see how interesting they are, how they feel and so on. After aligning on a direction, we had by the end of the first 24 hours a nice player model - the star of the game - and a basic reveal mechanic for invisible elements. A first music track was also out, though not implemented in any way yet.

It was quite straight forward, that we wanted to go into the direction of a solid platformer game with some sort of illusion mechanics for the game jam theme "It Is Not Real". While surely not most-innovative, it offered a lot of room to expand on in terms of game mechanics, graphics, sound and music. Our team of randoms had no real experience about team game jams, so it was for sure a good decision to not go for too experimental topics and ultimately fail  to accomplish our main goal.
